UBCTACS is Recruiting Student Volunteers!

Are you confused about taxes? Do you want to be a tax expert? Join us!


UBC Tax Assistance Clinic is a student-run organization that assists students and low-income individuals prepare their tax returns in March. We are currently looking for student volunteers to help our 1600+ clients fill out their income tax forms.This year's clinic runs from March 1st to March 26th Monday to Friday at the International House. All volunteers will undergo training from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and receive a certificate by the end of this year's clinic session. There will also be a chance to network with representatives from professional accounting and tax firms (KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, CGA, and more) on the training day. This is a great opportunity to learn how to file taxes, get involved in the campus community, and gain valuable skills as a student leader!


Please send your application and attach with it a copy of your resume and term 2 course schedule to ubc.tacs.volunteers@gmail.com with the subject line as "LASTNAME, Firstname" (eg. MACDONALD, Joe).


The application deadline is NOON on Friday, January 15, 2010. Group interviews will be held during the week of January 25, 2010.


We Are Also Recruiting Clinic Supervisors!

Clinic Supervisors work with the executive members to manage the logistical details of each clinic shift and assist in making everything run as smoothly as possible. You are required to have past experience with UBC TACS or at least one year of experience in filing tax returns. Clinic Supervisors answer questions and concerns that the volunteers or the clients may have, and is an important resource for the users of UBC TACS.


You will gain experience on client service, problem-solving, leadership, and above all it's a great resume booster!
